After Autumn Fair and Glee this month, the next industry event is The Henries on 2nd October. This year’s theme is ABBA, so I’m expecting to see some more brilliant and sparkly fancy dress outfits!

Publishers shortlisted for product awards were announced in July and, more recently, the finalists were revealed for the much-coveted award of Best Service to the Independent Retailer, sponsored by Cardgains. I’m thrilled that two thirds of those nominated are Cardgains suppliers.

Fingers crossed I will be able to present the Bronze, Silver & Gold awards to three Cardgains suppliers again this year.

After further examining the feedback from members, I’m pleased to announce that we have another fabulous gift supplier joining us with some premium glassware to offer your customers in time for Christmas gift buying. Dartington Crystal are a top glass making company with roots in glass making for many years.

I know it’s been a while since the fantastic charity event at the end of June, and the blisters are all but gone! However, I do feel I need to mention it again as I have been blown away by the generosity of colleagues in the industry, friends and family.

Thanks to two recent huge donations from Cardgains member Aga Marsden’s shop raffle and a donation from the Retas raffle, the total was boosted to over £60,000 more than double our original target. Some shareholders have also donated their share dividend payment. Thank you to everyone.

I know there are a couple more events later this year where more funds will be raised, so there will be a final total for when we present to Pancreatic Cancer at Spring Fair in February.
